This is the standing agenda for rehearsals with my power trio:
*******************************************
1) Planning and status (20-30 minutes)
- Our objectives, near and long term--it's very important for us to be clear on these.
- Status of current initiatives
- Issues--what's not working, musically or otherwise?
- New ideas for music, promo, etc.
2) Musical rehearsal (2.5 hours)
- Group warmup and interplay/improvisation exercises (15-20 min)
- Current and new repertoire (2 hours)
- Post play analysis: what worked? what didn't? (20 min)
3) next steps: homework, etc. (15 min)
This is a 3-hour rehearsal, and it's intended to allow us to:
- make progress in repertoire
- make progress as a performing team
- identify and execute on next steps for the music and our promotion of the band
